It's that time of the year again where we reflect on how and where we shop, who's still in and who lost their pizazz. That's right folks, it's now time for your updated list of definitive shopping experiences in Chicago (AKA) where to spend it. This is the Fall 2011 Racked 38.
This season's list drops Workshop in Pilsen because Owner/ Designer, Annie Novotny moved in with Post 27, another Racked 38 shop. Up north, Transistor in Andersonville also fell off the list because they moved out of Andersonville to Lincoln Square, and quite frankly, the new shop isn't as cool as the old one. Speaking of not so cool anymore is Veruca Salt who has become complacent in gender-neutral customer service after adding men's clothes to their mix. In addition there are a few minor tweaks in Ikram's street address, le Dress' sister store losing its lease to Wolford's in The Shops at North Bridge. Filling Transistor's place, we added Morlen Sinoway, purveyor of custom furniture, limited edition artisanal jewelry and other curiosities. We also felt it was our duty to add Sofia on Oak Street for their ballsy decision to cut out men's and focus on higher end women's in both new and vintage. Lastly, Lissa Boutique was added to the list for consistently buying some of the edgiest designers since moving her shop to River North.
