At a recent cocktail event at her Chicago store, Nicole Miller summed up the entire city's fashion in one word: black. When it comes to fancy, gala events, Miller said Chicagoans "wear a lot less color than in New York, but it’s more avant-garde", mentioning that us midwesterners prefer something "black and cool" to a plain old LBD. It's slimming, it's classic, and it can always be recycled as a witch costume come Halloween — what's not to like? [WWD]
