Ikram Moving in 2011; Expands in to Menswear (Plus a Cafe?)

What’s in store for Ikram Goldman next year? The local fashion connoisseur, best known as Michelle Obama’s secret style weapon, has finally found a larger space to house her eponymous Chicago boutique, Ikram. This past spring, Goldman was already rumored to be scouting for a new flagship somewhere between Wabash and State Streets.

The expanded Ikram on 15 East Huron, just a few blocks down from the current 873 North Rush Street address, is expected to stock both men's and women's apparel. Since Goldman is the force behind Mrs. O’s avant-garde fashion choices such as Jason Wu and Thakoon, we’re dying to see the selections for her first venture into a men’s collection. And although Goldman would neither confirm nor deny, there is also talk of a caf&eacute being built in to the 16,480-square-foot boutique. Ikram’s big move will happen some time mid-2011.
