Forbes just named Chicago the 15th best shopping city in America—in front of of Los Angeles (#16) and way ahead of New York City (which ranked a mindblowing #22!). Writer Meghan Casserly came up with the list based on these criteria: number of shopping malls/centers, leasable retail space, and wallet-friendliness. The omnipresent Walmart apparently helped Phoenix secure a #6 ranking. Does this mean Chicago needs Walmart Neighborhood Markets to crack the top 10 next time? Spoiler alert: Houston came is as #1.
