Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
This Thursday we'll be glued to the flatscreen for the premier of Lifetime's Project Accessory, the Project Runway spinoff. The show has got 12 designers from all over the place from New Jersey to Miami and LA and beyond. The three that we're the most interested in and will be supporting hail from Chicago and Minneapolis.
The first is Diego Rocha who's opened a store just off the Viagra Triangle int he Gold Coast that is known for specialty croc and snake handbags. The second is Minneapolis-based Nicolina Royale who's skilled hands can meld metal and jewels into a vixen-quality neckpiece fit for a rock star. And the third is James Sommerfeldt, who gained his training at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has collaborated with many garment designers at the school.
There are several underground viewing parties that we've been catching wind of and we're thinking about stopping by a few in River North - if you're hosting a public viewing email us about it and we'd be glad to post it. The premiere of Project Accessory is this Thursday, October 27th at 10:30 ET/PT, following the season finale of Project Runway.
