LINCOLN PARK—Former Violet Hour bartender Stephen Cole took a bold step and opened the Barrelhouse Flat, a gorgeous Prohibition era-inspired bi-level cocktail bar.

FULTON MARKET—Even if you didn't get tickets to Next's latest menu concept, Childhood, you can still see the whole thing in pictures.

BUCKTOWN—A short while after shuttering his five-year-old Terragusto, chef Theo Gilbert opened Ripasso this week, which, unlike his other spot, will have a full bar and extensive Italian wine list.

LINCOLN SQUARE—After seven years at upscale French spot Les Nomades, chef Chris Nugent will cook his last meal on Nov. 5 to focus on opening Goosefoot, a market-driven BYO spot with tasting-menu-only options.

HIGHLAND PARK—Following 30 successful years, nationally acclaimed restaurant Carlos' will close after service on New Year's Eve so owners Debbie and Carlos Nieto and reconcept the space into Nieto's.
