Racked's own Rea Frey braves the searchlights and walks the red carpet at the opening of the much awaited Made in Chicago AIBI pop up opening...

Last night, we attended the very hip VIP party for the Made in Chicago presented by AIBI retail store opening. Situated at 44 E Grand Avenue, The Apparel Industry Board, (AIBI) and The Shops at North Bridge featured 21 of Chicago’s brightest designers, including some of our favorites like VaVaVroom, Killion, Crescendo Apparel, Formé Millinery and Elda de la Rosa. The pop-up shop will be open today, November 16, 2011 through December 31, 2011 and will offer unique designs for affordable prices.

Featuring evening and casual wear, edgy t-shirts, accessories for the home, jewelry, hats, eco-friendly gift wrap and more, the holiday shopper will be able to discover one-of-a-kind gift items for those special people on their lists and unique additions for their own closets. All designers will be hosting trunk shows throughout the period, and a special “Shopping for Charity” program will allow the shoppers to select one of 10 charities to allocate 10% of their purchase to benefit.

VaVaVroom and SoundChick Accessories will co-host a trunk show on Friday, December 9, 2011 from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm at the pop-up store. VaVaVroom will present its latest motorcycle-inspired fashions and SoundChick will offer its handcrafted couture feather accessories.

Other designers include Barbara Keisman, Beth Ann Designs, Chikahisa Studio, Crescendo Apparel, Ecowrap, LLC, Elda de la Rosa Couture, Felt Inspired, Formé Millinery, Jennifer Philbrook LLC, Takara, Killion, Kreatia, Lauren Lein Ltd., Le’Fleur Interiors by Diana, Lucius Jewelry, LuDia Couture Designs, Marty Casey Silver Elements Collection, Caramel Ribbon, and Sarah Kuenyefu Collection.

So, hit Michigan Avenue and pop in to this truly unique space, which offers something for everyone on your shopping list.

The store hours are Monday-Saturday 11:00 am - 8:00 pm and Sunday 11:00 am - 6:00 pm. For more information on “MADE IN CHICAGO presented by AIBI”, call AIBI at 312-836-1041.
