Just in time for Black Friday, ClikZ is reporting that JCPenney is hijacking Target on Twitter. JCPenney has bought Promoted Tweets for words like "Target"; "Target stores"; "Target gifts"; "Target deals"; and "Target holidays". Sears has also joined in on the game by purchasing Promoted Tweets for "@target", while Gap, Neiman Marcus and HP are employing variations of this tactic against Target. This should come as no surprise after BP pulled a similar stunt during the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, plus the new leadership of Michael R. Francis and Ron C. Johnson.
