Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
The lingering drama surrounding the (still) vacant Jake storefront will soon fade as it becomes inhabited with luxury once again. We're hearing from multiple sources from several corners of the country that Brunello Cucinelli will be opening in this space at 939 N Rush.
This lease will hopefully end the drama which ensued after WWD had said that Jake was closing then which then ended up turning into a Gap 1969 store for a while, then was rumored to be a Christian Louboutin outpost which we finally proved wrong. We later found out that Isaac Mizrahi came into the picture during that time, signed a lease but then defaulting on it and the space remained haunted until now.
