Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
The new Kiehl's in the Shops at North Bridge on Michigan Avenue is still missing their airplane. Rest assured, they tell us it's enroute and not to sweat our make-up off. Meanwhile, the photo booth is flashing away in the front of the shop and the 1955 Harley Davidson Anniversary Model Panhead is sittin' pretty in the rear window by the mall entrance. This motorcycle belonged to second generation owner, Aaron Morse, who in the 50's freely rode it throughout southwest and Mexico - fringed saddlebags and all.
Stop by tomorrow night for their grand opening Karnival where you'll run into the bike, jugglers, balloon twisters, and the life-size Kiehl's mascots and bites by molecular gastronomists from MOTO. The first 160 patrons at the ribbon cutting ceremony get a full-sized Ultra Facial Cleanser and a Kiehl's photo booth print for a personal take-home memento.
