After five years with rent at $45,000 a month for their large space on the corner of Michigan at Oak, Dennis Basso and friends are no longer able to keep the furs moving. We've seen certain items in the store on sale for about three weeks, but, like the lion moving in for the kill in the darkness of the night, we waited until our prey was at its most unsuspecting and weakest point to "misstep" into our closely monitored territory of killer sales and cut throat bargain hunting.
Coats of lynx, vests of kidassia, pillows of fox, are all slashed to their third markdown this week to prices that would even make Beyonce happy. (Yo Sasha Fierce, we put a chinchilla on layaway for you). This week was that aforementioned "misstep" when prices are now at a staggering 70% or 80% off the original. We feel like this may be the best opportunity to get yourself an alligator clutch—but if you want to wait it out just a little longer, the final day Dennis Basso plans to be open is March 21st.
After an amazing show at Fashion Week, we're sad to see such a seductive fur box close, but all of Basso's other locations: Aspen, Veil, London, New York, will remain open for business. — Jared Hatch
