Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
On a reader tip, our man about town Jared Hatch checks in on LeSportsac's Wicker Park location only to find it's closed. Luckily, they'll be opening a new location in Cumbres, Mexico, soon. Um.
Marc by Marc Jacobs is hardly alone on Damen just north of the North Avenue intersection, but it feels like a ghost town up in there without LeSportsac's bright bags in the window which has been vacant since the weekend before The Blizzard of 2011. We asked around and spoke to Megan at LeSportsac HQ. She told us that the company is always looking for new spaces and the next opening will be in Cumbres, Mexico.
Once we start complaining about having to have a passport to cross the border she mentions that it's entirely possible to order on the web at LeSportsac.com, or from Macy's, Bloomies, Boscov's, or Nordstrom. We suppose if desperation sinks in and we absolutely need to see the new artist in residence collaboration we can also fly to one of the other six American boutiques or five factory outlet stores (not in Mexico). Sure, 'The Sac' may be a quick vacation away, and Miami def wouldn't hurt right now, but it sure is a heartbreaker to see it gone from Wicker Park.
