North Michigan Avenue is about to get a whole lot more soft-sided midwestern-chic with Fort Wayne based Vera Bradley set to open on the fifth floor March 11th. The $200k alteration of the space is currently underway, and the final iteration of the store is expected to look the same as the 40 other Vera Bradley retail operations that are already open and under construction in the lower 48. This location is in close proximity to American Girl, Aritzia, Sephora, and The Oprah Store kiosk (which is rumored to be extending their lease through the summer).
Vera Bradley is also opening a storefront in Westfield's Old Orchard in Skokie. While Akira, Anthropologie, Ann Taylor, The Limited, and Coldwater Creek have already found success at the historic outdoor mall, it seems as if Vera Bradley is a late bloomer to the 1.8 million square foot suburban mecca. The Skokie location is tentatively set to open on April 8th. — Jared Hatch
