Akira is now open in Andersonville on Clark at Farragut. In the first days of being open, owner Erikka Wang says the response from the neighborhood has been extremely positive thus far. It seems like the neighborhood once known for its fine array of antique shops and vintage furniture stores is now changing. The A-ville neighborhood is gradually stepping into the future starting with a spacious Akira storefront across the street from Urban Nest. Soon to follow is the Bongo Room and after that- the cool kids from Wicker Park are moving in. We have a feeling that, likewise with past Akira invasions at North Avenue, the Loop, Diversey at Clark, the modernization of the Andersonville neighborhood is inevitable now.

The Andersonville Akira stocks most everything that the other locations do, but the particular focus has been on Akira's Black Label which takes prominence on most of the shop fixtures. Other popular favorites at the new store have been Tom Ford, DiBi's neckwear, Toms shoes, and Grey Ant sunglasses. Erikka tells us that she expects the shoe section in the Andersonville location will grow and eventually occupy the entire front of the store.

This North Clark Street location, being in such a tightly knit neighborhood and responding to business trends as part of a community will soon, according to store manager, Paulina (who has lived in the neighborhood for years) will soon feature several photo boards of neighborhood residents wearing their Akirawear at events that are special to them.

In the same spirit, Akira's recent push has been in social media which has given their customer a voice in assisting buyers with the following season's choices. This also allows customers from all around the world to ask questions about the Chicago-only series of boutiques. Erikka insists that if you want to keep in touch with their decisions to connect with them on Facebook and Twitter.
