This morning just minutes after unlocking their doors we pay a long awaited visit to the new and improved Tod's. This new design stays true to the brand aesthetic and acts similarly to the previous layout but with a deeper back wall, more defined areas, updated water closet, a spacious dressing room, and updated polished steel fixtures. The new store also has accented walls of vertically grooved light grey facia and sky-stretching mirrors. The contractors who constructed the space were still Windexing the crystal clear glass doors and adjusting the lock on the dressing room.
Sure, the re-model is great but the point where we really raised our voices in excitement today came from when one of the Tod's associates showed us the limited edition especially for the Chicago store. Yum.
This bag shape is called the 24 hour tote which was a new silhouette for S/S 2011 collection. It is a great tote at a great price ($1500) for wearing the entire day into night hours- hence it's name. Each bag in this limited edition of 35 is made from one piece of Apricot-colored calfskin leather. Inside of each bag will be embossed "My Tod's Special Edition". Maybe we love this bag because it's a Chi-town exclusive, or maybe it's because its so soft we could use it as a pillow, but we know this tote is definitely the sweet apricot flavored icing of Tod's shiny new boutique.
