Fashion Installation at CFI

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Chicago-based designer, Miriam Cecilia Carlson with the Chicago Fashion Incubator will host the unveiling of Miriam Cecilia's autumn / winter 2011 collection tonight inside the CFI pop-up space. The installation opens at 6pm and is made of natural elements like spring branches, stalks of field grass, and features a wooden bar made by her grandfather. From what we gather about this installation, like her line, is heavily reliant on the experiences, forms, and ideas found in nature like coiled ferns, fields at dusk blanketed in mist, and natural shale she's been harvesting from a mine since she was young. The fashion installation begins at 7:30pm and run until 9pm. [Racked Inbox]
