Last Thursday your loyal Racked reporters made the trek down to The 900 Shops for the shopping party at Michael Kors to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. The event was hosted by Sugar Rautbord, June D. Barnard, Whitney Dunn, Eliot Weiner and Phoebe & Michael Nitekman. The party brought Chicago’s philanthropic elite together as Karen Segal and her daughter Caroline were present, along with Stuart & Amy Savitz, Sherrill Bodine, and Angela Geiger. Models strode through the party decked out in Michael Kors’ effortless goddess gowns, which were also displayed prominently on mannequins at the entrance to the lifestyle boutique. Guests sipped on complementary champagne as they opened their hearts and wallets to support a good cause. The most popular products of the evening were definitely the watches. We heard sales associates privately worrying that they might have sold out of a few styles as they dashed between the stockroom and the party. Even hostess Phoebe Nitekman couldn’t resist having a little fun trying on a variety of styles. Knowing that her money was going to a good cause, how could she not? Michael Kors chose to generously donate 20% of the evening’s sales to the Alzheimer’s Assocation. The event was held in anticipation of the upcoming Rita Hayworth Gala on May 7th at the Hilton Chicago also produced by the Alzheimer’s Association. -Amy Creyer
