Looks like the folks in Boystown will have one less place to shop for duds come later this summer. After Universal Gear and His Stuff both packed up and abandoned the East Lakeview neighborhood within a span of 12 months, now comes the news that clothing resaler Buffalo Exchange has also decided to shut down its Broadway storefront towards the end of August. We couldn't figure out if it was a corporate decision or not—judging from the steady foot traffic in the many (many) times we've visited, thrift-happy locals has certainly kept the racks filled with merchandise and at the same time, scooped up a ton of gently worn clothing and accessories. According to a friendly sales associate, the upside is that they will be consolidating their goods with Buffalo Exchange's Wicker Park outpost to form some sort of a "Buffalo Exchange Megastore." Apparently the Milwaukee Avenue location has a rather large, secret basement space that has been sitting empty for a while now.
