Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
We have just learned that later this week, Ann Taylor Loft execs will be sitting down and sealing the deal with a store manager for a new location on Diversey. The space was previously Barnes & Noble and was sectioned off to make two separate storefronts which are still clad with a plywood barrier. Last month we reported on State Farm's cryptic flow chart and our sister, Eater reported Trader Joe's, well it looks like this bustling strip between the Brown Line and the five-corner intersection is still in the process of filling in with more established names.
This week Loft is securing a head-honcho manager-type and will shortly after be hiring assistants and sales associates. Loft has three stores in the Loop, one store in Water Tower and one store on the Clybourn Corridor in West Lincoln Park. Loft's business is brisk in the Loop while a bit slower on Clybourn and it is not known at this point if this new Lincoln Park / Lakeview store will replace any of the existing stores.
