Groupon Now Launches Ginormous City-Wide $1 Deals Campaign

All you've got to do is look at the front cover of the Red Eye and you'll see that Groupon is throwing down the gauntlet in the web-based arena and offering a one day only, one dollar deals promotion on its new Groupon Now App. For today only, the recently launched app has thousands of deals valid at businesses like pizza restaurants, yoga studios, nail salons, movies, boat tours and basically everything in the city you can spend your cash on.

Groupon has placed ten street teams of roughly ten people each at major intersections in the city. There are a few in the Loop, one team in Old Town, River North, Andersonville, Michigan Avenue, Wicker Park, Viagra Triangle, Lincoln Park and more. Members of the team are recognizable by their bright green shirts, beach balls, megaphones, faux gold bling and beach-y shades.

After being soft launched earlier this month, it appears Groupon Now is about to host time-sensitive location-based dance parties for deals on street corners around the nation. Groupon Now is available in the App Store and Android.
