May We Introduce Nicole Johnson

Chicago-based designer, Nicole Johnson, recently presented Racked with her portfolio of daring structural elements accompanied with graceful draping. Not only does Johnson’s whimsical fashion illustrations differentiate her from others, but her use of juxtaposition of contrasting materials is unique. Her passion for constructing garments with the use of boning and soft silk gazar was exhibited throughout this piece-embodying a dark and fanciful emotion.

For her most recent collection which was shown at Laundry Magazine's Growing Works show, Johnson drew from her dark yet quirky illustration style to create wearable avant garde garments. Her admiration of McQueen’s freedom and imaginative style is mirrored through Johnson’s design practice. -Braylen Barr
