Oak Street Design, a visual design resource corporation, organized this year’s annual Summer Window Contest and the awards reception. The cocktail party took place last Wednesday evening on the Terrace Rooftop, Bar and Restaurant at the Conrad. Stanley Smith, founder of Oak Street Design, and Amanda Wolfson, production manager at Oak Street Design, hosted and entertained guests throughout the night. To recap, eleven prominent individuals from Chicago’s design, retail, and education community collaborated to offer their expertise in selecting the top twelve window displays on Michigan Avenue, State Street, and Oak Street. The winners were placed in twelve categories chosen by Oak Street Design and were honored amongst their friends, family, and colleagues.
The night was bustling with a wide range of music and exquisite mixed beverages sponsored by Absolut Vodka. Oh, and let’s not forget about the mouth-watering, well-seasoned Conrad crab cakes. A hit throughout the night! Chicago’s fashion elite as well as respected photographers and journalists occupied the space. While the drinks and treats were being enjoyed, photographers flashed their cameras, and the anticipation to find out the winners escalated. Some of the contest’s categories included best overall design, best use of color, best use of light, and best overall composition. Ralph Lauren was awarded "most traditional" and the online "peoples choice" award.- Braylen Barr
