Earlier this year, we brought you the news that Marimekko was opening one of the first shop-in-shops at the Crate&Barrel in Lincoln Park. Since the opening, Northbrook-based Crate & Barrel has kept on bringing us some stellar Marimekko finds. Beyond the fabric selection, we've been a little obsessed with the housewares in the shop - particularly Anu Penttinen's contribution to the In Good Company tableware family.
Besides a super cute name, the relaxed, direct in character in-direct looking shape of the "Socks Rolled Down" combind with Marimekko's characteristic multicolor, take stance against formal tableware. When designing these glasses for Marimekko, Anu was aiming to emphasize the fine movement of the material to suit an uncomplicated lifestyle. With the attributes of this lifestyle it was Marimekko's aim to encourage the use of tap water instead of bottled water, at least in the countries where the tap is good to drink.
