We love the 4th of July barbecues, boat parties, lawn parties, Ravinia, and road trips back to our respective native midwestern homesteads. Its a big occasion, and we love the ideas of Americana coming through at comfortable, somewhat non-political moments. Alas, not all of us want to spend the 4th of July with a mob of people in someone's backyard. Some see such holidays as an opportunity for shopping with big savings.

If you're a party monster or one of the latter who likes to beat the crowds by shopping on line, we've done a bit of research for the most-excellent deals from American companies for American-made products. Most of our recommendations you can get online from PromoCodes.us, the company's websites or by visiting any one of the store's brick and mortar locations or factories which we've listed below.

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE - Imogene + Willie, from Nashville, set up a small shop with denim manufacturing capabilities in 2009 and has been thriving ever since. They aren't doing any promotions for the 4th of July, but they assured us they're the biggest BBQ fans in the denim field. Just sayin' they're awesome.

RED WING, MINNESOTA - Traveling northwest over the weekend? Boot maker Red Wing makes all of its heritage product in three facilities in Danville, Kentucky, Potosi, Missouri, and Red Wing Minnesota, where they have their only shop. The all-American company is having a buy 2 get 1 free event through their own shop located at 315 Main Street in Red Wing. They're open normal hours Friday and Saturday and 11-5 on Sunday.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - Classic clothier, Brooks Brothers is encouraging all customers nomatter what part of the country you live in to create your own personal profile on their site and receive $10 off your next order of $50 or more. Sure thing.

FREEPORT, MAINE - If you've ever been to Freeport, you'd understand our love with LL Bean. Well, they have yet to open a midwest outpost, so they're offering us free shipping on every order plus 70% off some of the Summer Footwear.

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - Out of the items essential for an american wardrobe, the three items always on the shopping list are white t shirts, shades of red lipstick, and a current pair of blue jeans. Levi's is encouraging their fans to take 30% off any purchase with promo code EXTRA30 on their site. Also, in the Michigan Avenue Store and the Milwaukee Ave Store, a huge selection of merchandise is 50% off.

ASHEBORO, NORTH CAROLINA - Stock up on socks. Ames Walker Hosiery, known for their never-ending selection of men's women's and children's legwear with styles ranging from sheer and compression, maternity to active. Online only they're offering free shipping on orders over $50.

ST PAUL, MINNESOTA -Founded in 1905, J.W. Hulme Co., based in St. Paul, makes its canvas and leather bags on the banks of the Mississippi River. The factory still to this day employs local craftspeople and takes pride in every operation and bag made through their facility. Normally sold at retailers like Barneys and Steven Alan, you can score free shipping on your entire online order if it includes anything from the Hemmingshore Tan Canvas line.
