Chicago Construction Woes: Perchance Boutique Not Quite Complete

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Perchance Boutique's second location in the Elysian Hotel is not quite open yet, and after weeks and weeks of delaying opening we just got a peek of the interior space and watched some of the store fixtures go into place. After slight communication problems with permits and dealing with the department of buildings, all burners are on high to get the space open by next week.

Walking around the shop with windows spanning both sides of the boutique, we see four free standing walnut fixtures and a cash wrap waiting to be installed. We're told the middle section will be the features "capsule" highlighting show stopping pieces each season. The bathroom had yet to be installed as well as most everything in the dressing rooms. The floor will be a shiny lacquered white playing off the deep walnut.

The front of the shop will be dedicated to shoes and the portion of the shop before the free standing walnut fixtures will be two large glass cases that will hold more jewelry than Perchance Boutique has ever carried.
