Just this past weekend, a brand new gallery took residence in the vacant Transistor space in the sub neighborhood of SoFo in Andersonville. Mink & Arce Gallery, a guerilla gallery concept from Milwaukee, Wisconsin opened a now permanent location presenting an accomplished array emerging and established artists.
The works installed for the opening show work primarily in painting, and with an emphasis in abstract and neo-baroque work which the gallery will continue to show, adding video, installation and performance. Artists represented for the opening show include David Paul Downs, Boris Ostrerov, and JungPyo Hong who are all showing 2-D work.
Although video and performance will not be the primary focus, we're told to keep an eye out for their "Friday Evenings" which we have a feeling will be a little edgier. Friday evenings will be hosted in conjunction with ArtResearchCollective. Occasional Monday evenings at Mink & Arce will be a contemporary art and theory lecture series.
