MILLENNIUM PARK—The judges and competitors for the 2011 Hamburger Hop, the event that kicks off Chicago Gourmet, were revealed and some of the chefs may surprise you.

BUCKTOWN—Like beer with your food? How about beer in your food? Bluebird hired new chef Jack Stankovic, who has released a revamped beer-focused menu and it looks pretty damn tasty.

DOWNTOWN—The Meals on Wheels Celebrity Chef Ball is set for Oct. 14 and will feature dozens of the city's top chefs, pastry chefs and mixologists cooking to raise money for the organization.

EVERYWHERE—After 27 years, longtime Sun-Times food critic, Pat Bruno was fired this week, but what seemed to upset him most was being told by a mid-level editor.
