J.C. Steinbrunner Kicks off First Installment of Mark Shale's Project Space

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Mark Shale, Chicago’s destination for sartorial style, kicks off the first installment of the “Mark Shale Project Space” series this Thursday, September 22 from 6PM-8PM at the 900 N. Michigan location. A silkscreened bag in a limited edition of 300 by J.C. Steinbrunnerwill be created for the event. Paintings by Mr. Steinbrunner will be on view at all three Mark Shale locations until November 3.

After J.C. Steinbrunner's artful appearance at Mark Shale, the Project Space will rotate a micro-exhibition series. During each rotation of its six-week run, one artist will receive exposure in a high-end retail setting. All proceeds from sales of work go directly to the artist.

For the Mark Shale Project Space, Steinbrunner narrows that focus to single, earthy objects—rocks and crystals—frozen in motion on brilliant, glossy grounds to create objects of beauty and contemplation out of what we normally gloss over in our everyday life.
