Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
The words "flea market" don't really impress upon us the most auspicious of thoughts. We think of grotty hole-in-the-wall places with very aggressively used furniture that we may need a hazmat suit to go near. But when those two words are paired with these words, Jayson Home & Garden, we forget why we hated flea markets in the first place. Next week, Oct. 5-7, Jayson Home & Garden will host their fall flea market featuring "vintage and antique furniture, lighting, artwork and curiosities." We love the buyers at Jayson, so we're sure this is going to be a treat.
But we also know that it may be like a sample sale gone wild--the first 100 folks in line will get a free gift, so people may start camping out EARLY, and the doors open at 8 AM. We already know that folks are going to storm in like the running of the bulls in Pamplona. However, if you have more patience than most of do, and are willing to wait, and don't want to endanger yourself, the online flea market begins on Oct. 15. And don't fret thinking that you're going to dehydrate and starve yourself because of all the shopping madness. Food trucks will rotate regularly throughout the weekend.
