Last night in the final hours of twilight while most of our sleepy Midwestern metropolis was nodding off, the PUBLIC Hotel in the Gold Coast was just waking up; getting its second wind, if we may. Celebrating the new, yet popular hotel's one year anniversary, Studio 54 co-founder Ian Schrager toasted the occasion with Chicago's tremendously social, most beautiful scenesters and a Champagne throwback to the days of his landmark nightlife institution, Studio 54.

The evening started late, and ended even later than we expected producing colorful flowy frocks, insane afros, big shoes donned by many notable personalities lauding the anniversary as the best of the year. Among the faces we saw through the lasers, strobes and (at times) thick fog included none other than Stanley Paul of The Stanley Paul Orchestra, a mainstay at the Pump Room back in it's original heyday and Studio 54 DJs, DJ Johnny "Jellybean" Benitez and Mark Benecke. Also spotted was former presidential social secretary Desiree Rogers (who knows how to bust a move), former Chicago Bears player, Jerry Azumah, and author Amy Tara Koch. Winding through the crowded dance floor are Julie Latsko, famous photographer Victor Skrebneski, M.K. Pritzker, and Racked Award winner and former Playboy Bunny, Candace Jordan. On the more trendy side the lovely Landon twins, DJ Megan Taylor, DJ Madrid, designer Azeeza Desai Khan, Lindsay Segal, Audarshia Townsend and philanthropist Neil Zucker along with Grant DePorter.
