Gallery Aesthete's Opening Event Thursday night brought together a meeting of art and fashion. Never before has Chicago seen the mixing of the two in this manner. Menswear from Rick Owens, Comme des Garcons, Raf Simons, Ann Demeulemeester, Boris Bidjan Sabir, Julius, Inaisce, and Faliero Sarti was shown alongside artwork by Lonney White. Everyone turned out in their best conceptual black garb to swill champagne and mingle in the minimal black and white space designed by Lukas Machnik.
It was stunning to see such a mass of people swathed in dark designer duds all converged in one space. Everyone come out in their best sheer tops, leather leggings, and draped tunics (and thats just the men). The store's two fitting rooms set the stage for live model installations. Guests were treated to the viewing of pieces such as a Raf Simons hair trimmed shirt and an Ann Demeulemeester black and white ombre topcoat in the dramatically lit all black dressing rooms. After the opening party everyone made their way over Public to for an epic after party. Although masses of black clad people sound funereal than celebratory the party( and after party) was an absolutely festive affair.
