Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Longtime coming for Jilly's and Back Room which, with their clunky sidewalk patio furniture have been the bittersweet taste of tourism debauchery in the Viagra Triangle for years. Welp, now they're closed and guess what: Frye (as in Frye Boots) is opening there. The building will be demolished and replaced with a 6,100-square-foot shoe-topia to be open sometime next summer.
