We'd been waiting for so long for the Emporio Armani store to open, and then two weeks ago, it opened quietly in the former Barneys space on Oak. All of the Barneys fixtures were gone, but that grand, winding staircase in the middle of the store definitely stayed and played a pivotal role in last night's fab grand opening party.
The fashionable glitterati showed up to fete the long awaited touchdown of Emporio Armani. Folks came out in fab suits, chic stilettos and great dresses, and they looked very complementary to Emporio's stark black and white interior. We even spotted a celeb, Chicago Bear, Israel Idonije. While the prosecco flowed and George Jewell apps were passed, a DJ turned out some cool beats. After he took a break, a live band serenaded us upstairs on the men's floor.
The party ended promptly at 10PM (supposed to be 9), with remnants of the night left behind in some of the bubbly stained pants, wet marble floors, balled up napkins next to mannequins and hanging clothes that were no longer spaced two inches apart from each other. But all in all we'd have to say that those are signs of a successful party.
