Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

It seems like every other day in Chicago athletic stores open and revamp. Is Chicago trying to become the nation's fittest (and most well dressed, athletically speaking) city? It seems that way. Get this: Road Runner Sports, billed as the "world's largest running and walking store," makes its way to Chicago on Oct. 12.

In Wicker Park, Road Runner Sports will compete with places like Running Away Multisport in its amount of athletic wear and offerings. It will offer every type of shoe you could possibly want from myriad lines, and will have athletic wear lines ranging from Asics to Under Armour. There will also be a shoe analysis station, aka Shoe Dog, that will help to fit you frequent runners in the right shoe for your foot shape. Akin to Fleet Feet Sports' shoe analysis, Shoe Dog's method of fitting will have you in and out (with your new shoes) in 12 minutes. Road Runner's shtick, if you will, is their focus on one-on-one attention with you. From the fitting process, to the process of selecting clothing, they want you to feel as though you're the only one that matters. We want to run there right now.
