Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

GOLD COAST -Just off the intersection of Michigan Ave at Oak Street, one of the windiest places in the country, a new blow dry bar has opened and is starting to take appointments. Run by a mother /daughter duo and a staff of haircare enthusiasts, Blow By Blow is here to liquor you up, turn on the chick flicks and make that hair look good.

EVERYWHERE - The Fall edition of The Racked 38 is out. This is a list we compose each season to let you know what's new and hot in shopping. We like to think of it as the 38 most essential shops and shopping experiences in the Chicago.

EVERYWHERE -Each October, Fashion Focus shows and events featuring Chicago-based designers happen all over the city. The three biggies are in Millennium Park and there are several happening elsewhere (like this one with half naked men) We've got all your Fashion Focus coverage.

GOLD COAST - The famous Frye Company, known for their boots, is opening on Rush next year. It'll go into a brand new construction on the lot where Jilly's Paino Bar was.

LOOP - In honor of Ada Lovelace Day, a holiday that celebrates women working the fields of tech and math, we went to ThoughtWorks, a technology consultancy in the Loop. Here, we profiled five stylish women with Nerf Guns, a unicorn and a Ghostbuster trophy.

WEST SIDE - Presale tickets are available online for the Gilt Warehouse Sale. It happens again this year at the MCA Warehouse with men's women's, (lots of shoes) and even housewares.
