This morning at 6AM Chicagoland's eighth Mariano's opened in Greektown. At over 71,000 square feet the store includes a bulk spice wall, Sweet Shoppe with hand-dipped caramel apples and handmade gelato pops; a walk-in beer cooler with craft beers; a gelato, coffee and wine bar complete with a fireplace and dine-in options including fresh seafood towers, and a fresh oyster bar.
Today, throughout the day, the store is drawing in West Loopers with more samples than on a usual day at a Marianos, a fruit-carving demonstration, a $10,000 donation to Ronald McDonald House and of course, a massive display of hummus. Being in Greektown, if there's one item they need to up the ante for reals with, it's the hummus... and they did. This store now carries a skull-shattering 42 kinds of hummus, up from 40 kinds sold in the Near Eastside Store.
