Strike a Prose (Ba Dum Tss)

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

There's nothing better than a little romance. Whether that's the perfect heel, a couture bridal gown or a vintage clutch, we see the beauty in all things wearable. But sometimes it's nice to have words (not things) to display our affections instead.

Enter: Poems While You Wait. Poets Kathleen Rooney, Dave Landsberger and Eric Plattner have plenty to say so you don't have to. Whether your idea of romance is a hand-plucked flower or dinner and a movie, sometimes we all struggle for just the right thing to say? so why not let someone else say it for you?

Need a toast? Check. A love letter? Check. An apology in stanzas? No problem. No matter the topic (seriously, anything is up for grabs: pumpkins, beer, cats, midgets – you name it, they will rhapsodize about it) this trio types hand-crafted poems on vintage typewriters (swoon!) and delivers them to whomever you like. Think of it like poetry on demand. As if that wasn't romantic enough, all proceeds go to Rose Metal Press and 826 CHI. Meet these inspiration gurus soon enough, on November 11 at the next Dose Market in River East. -Rea Frey
