Haute Living is one of our favorite furniture showrooms in the city because of its loftlike feel and its ability to attract the world's greatest designers like Vladimir Kagan, Erba and Arne Jacobsen to Chicago. Yes, those Euro masters are phenomenal, but they also champion what's in their own American backyard. They now carry a line of lighting and furniture called Rich Brilliant Willing, a company based out of New York, in the showroom. What a name, huh? And from the products that we've peeped, acquiring one of their pieces would indeed make your home look rich, your style, brilliant, and your personality willing to try anything to make you stand out.
The line has an industrial feel, and appears to be a cross between England's Tom Dixon, with a hint of some Danish designers thrown into the mix. But it works out seamlessly. RBW is composed of three young dudes who were formerly RISD (that's Rhode Island School of Design for those of you that don't know--aka the shiz) students. Their company was featured on Forbes' 30 Under 30 list, and was chosen by I.D. magazine as one of its Top 40 designers, so we're thrilled that we're going to have a chance to meet them this week: Alexander Williams, one of the designers for RBW, will be at Haute Living this Thursday, Nov. 29, for the official unveiling of the collection. It goes down from 6-8, and you can RSVP here. If you go, you can ask them about the provenance of the company's fab name.
