Cultivate New Talent at SAIC's Holiday Art Sale

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The School of the Art Institute (SAIC) is a formidable force that never ceases to amaze us with its talented students, teachers and alums who go one to become some of the most recognized names in hot industries. Some of those boldfaced names include Cynthia Rowley, the designers of cult label Creatures of the Wind, and esteemed artists like Nick Cave. And speaking of artists, those artists are sometimes cultivated at SAIC's stellar Holiday Art Sale. This year's installment, the 24th in fact, takes place on Nov. 16 and 17.

Over 120 SAIC students will participate in the Holiday art sale, hawking a treasure trove of trinkets including sculpture, photography, paintings and prints, ceramics, jewelry and the like. Since this is a student sale, prices will certainly be student friendly, ranging from $1 to some things over $1000. Just like last year, the sale will again take place at the Maclean Center Ballroom, and will be bazaar style...or school bake sale style (depending on your point of reference). It's sure to be an amazing time, and you're sure to pick up some fab wares for your home or your person by America's next great emerging artisans. But if you can't wait for the sale, you can purchase tix for the preview party on Nov. 15 here, and those proceeds will also benefit SAIC.
