Earlier today, we asked several local experts about The Best Trends of 2012. Now we turn to Kevin Aeh, shopping and style editor of Time Out Chicago and occasional guest on Windy City Live and Good Day Chicago for his three favorite trends of 2012.

Mint green: Burgundy was the big color towards the end of the year, but I really enjoyed it when mint green had the spotlight during the spring/summer. I liked the mint green jeans a lot of ladies were wearing; the color just felt really fresh.

Nautical: The sailor-inspired look has been around for awhile, but I feel like it really took center stage this year. I loved the rope bracelets at the Wandawega Camp store, the nautical stripes at J. Crew and, of course, boat shoes.

Neon: I feel like the summer of 2012 was brought to us by neon. The color really was everywhere, from the Cambridge Satchel bag to tank tops and sneakers. Of course, too much neon can be a bad thing (Sorry, Landon twins) but a little hint of the color (like on tennis shoe soles, for example) can be fun.
