Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Ok guys, it all makes sense now - George Vlagos, the founder and design director of Oak Street Bootmakers and Rafik from Shrine are great friends. According to our sources, they've been trying to find a way to collaborate over the past few years, and that collaboration is taking shape inside of Shrine. The addition that Oak Street Bootmakers is bringing to the table is called Independence.

As we mentioned earlier, the Oak Street Bootmakers first brick and mortar (Independence) will exclusively feature brands that manufacture their products in the US, and will obviously highlight Oak Street Bootmakers.
