You may have heard about the organized "cash mobs" phenomenon in Chicago as well as other cities in efforts to boost the local economies. This is how it works: crowds of people meet at an ATM, withdraw a $20 and go spend it in one shop, on one street or in one particular neighborhood. Well, last week in three cities did it simultaneously in Cleveland OH, Columbia SC, and Austin TX. That instance of organized spending went so smoothly that now there's going to be a National Cash Mob Day. Mark your calendars for March 24th. We're hoping the Andersonville Cash Mob, West Loop Cash Mob and the Wicker Park / Bucktown Cash Mob "chapters" are participating.
