Groupon Consolidating Offices

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Groupon is leaving their offices in the East Loop this July. 1,500 employees will make the move to River North headquarters filling a subleased space. The swanky ownership of the soon-to-be-vacated offices in the East Loop has made improvements to the building, including two 900-gallon aquariums, a media wall, turnstiles and new carpeting in the lobby which apparently wasn't attractive enough to keep Groupon from consolidating both offices. The fact that Groupon has announced they're doing this only strengthens our idea that they are not moving to the West Loop. [Crains]
