At Greer, Civility is Not a Sign of Weakness

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Chandra Greer, owner of Racked 38 Member, Greer believes being civil is about how you present yourself in everyday conduct. Recently Chandra sought out to create a physical statement of this idea by collaborating with Brady Vest of Hammerpress to make a poster. Taken from JFK's inaugural speech, the phrase "Civility is not a sign of weakness" has become the store's motto and can now hang on your wall to remind you every day. The limited edition letter-pressed poster uses copper ink as well as the brand colors of Greer and antique elements of type. Even better, it's only $35, signed, numbered and printed on recycled chipboard.
