Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

You know you're onto something when a store has been open and golden for a decade or more. But what about when a store has been open since Chicago was incorporated as a city? Well, that is what we call astonishing and just shy of timeless. C.D.Peacock opened their doors in 1837 and this year is celebrating their 175th anniversary and rich history of clientele ranging from Abe Lincoln's wife to Mick Jagger. Now with multiple Chicagoland locations, C.D.Peacock is the go-to destination for all-things bridal/anniversary, jewelry and watches ranging from classic to vintage to fashion-forward and trendy. Congrats on 175 and may many more be in the future.
