2012 Driehaus Awards to Take Place in a Parking Garage with Vintage Cars

Driehaus Design Initiative is soon hosting the eleventh annual Driehaus Awards which celebrate innovation and craftsmanship of hardworking, emerging designers. This year's runway show happens next Friday, April 27 at 6PM.

The fun part (besides the purple carpet) is that the whole thing is set in the massive parking garage at 700 S. Des Plaines. The garage will transform for the evening to an elegant fashion fête alongside a fine selection of classic vintage cars.

This highly anticipated fashion event, themed Driven by Design, includes a pre-party with hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, silent auction, runway show, and VIP after-party for designers and event sponsors. ABC7’s Linda Yu will return as master of ceremonies.

The judges in this year's competition include VP of Neiman Marcus, Wendy Krimins, Susanna Negovan, editor-in-chief, Michigan Avenue Magazine; and Diego Rocha. The prizes include a mentorship with Jon Cotay of Akira with a pop-up shop to display the winning designer’s collection. Tickets are $175 - $250. and of course, there's complimentary valet parking is available.
