SOUTH LOOP— With Motor Row flirting with ambitious recovery plans, one solid piece of good news emerged this week: the idle and vacant 94-unit Motor Row Condominiums is up for sale, marketed as a rental opportunity. The original developer peaced out nearly four years ago. If things go as planned, a new developer may offer a reasonable range on rents to draw people to the no-man's land at Michigan and 23rd.

LAKE VIEW— Curbed has a soft spot for Alta Vista Terrace. Fortunately for us, there's been an inordinate amount of market activity on the 40-home rowhouse block of late. The latest find, a 4-bed Greystone, is one of the largest on the block. It's chock full of spoils and is asking $710K, in line with a similar listing in March.

NEAR WEST SIDE— Two floundering developments within two blocks of each other have their legs again after favorable rulings by the Chicago Plan Commission. While they still need full council support, things are looking up for Old St. Pat's 22-story office tower proposal at 625 W Adams and Philip Mappa's long-delayed plan for 645 W Madison (first office, now residential). SOUTH LOOP— An olde tyme gem down on Prairie Avenue hit the market this week for $2.195M. Known as the Keith Mansion, the gorgeous 1870 home sports virtually unaltered vintage interiors and a massive coach house. One of the district's first large estates, it prompted the likes of Pullman and Field to bunker down nearby.
