Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

It's only May but if there's one opening that is the front runner for best new store of the year right now it's got to be Lanvin on Oak Street. If you're strolling by or glancing out the window at Tod's across the street you may notice that the imagery appears brighter than before. This may not seem like such a big deal...

For starters, we can actually read what the illustrated characters are saying to each other and thinking in their little thought bubbles. And secondly it means that Ultimo's Windows were tinted too heavily for Lanvin's taste and will most likely be swapped out for crystal clear glass to show off merchandise.
