Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
ShopAround Chicago is the latest walking tour company that has hopped into our line of vision the past few weeks. And this Thursday, June 14, its official and exclusive invite-only launch happens at space519.
The service is being billed as "your tour guide to the "haute-est" shops in Chicago". The shops in mention, from what we gather are on Armitage in Lincoln Park, Damen in Bucktown and on Michigan Avenue. According to ShopAround Chicago's site, while on the walking tour, you can "learn about each of the shops' history, the products they carry; all while your very own "Style Guide" shows you the ins and outs on how to shop Local, shop Smart and always ShopAround!"
So we're unsure of ALL the stores on ShopAround Chicago's tour list but we assume some of the following companies from the company's current Facebook 'likes' will be included.
They are: Eclectic Chique · Langford Market · Shop 857 · Niche/City Soles · Lori's Shoes · Tangerine · Riley · RSVP Gallery · Cynthia Rowley · Allsaints · The Silversmith Hotel and Suites · Windy City Chefs · Laudi Vidni.
Additionally, we don't know yet (so don't get too judge-y) how much the tour costs or what the "StyleGuide" entails, but to give you an idea of other tours in the city, The Cupcake Tour is $50, the Chocolate Tour is $40, and the food tour of Chinatown is $60. So what do you think?
