More Oak Street Storefronts Get Swanky Makeover

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

The new construction replacing the storefronts at 70-104 E Oak where Sofia is currently (before they move out) will incorporate large retail display windows, trees along the sidewalk and the signature Oak Street black granite planters with a black concrete sidewalk.

Expect to see the dust start flying later this summer when it is converted into a three-story building of ground level retail space and commercial floors on levels two and three. Retail spaces should be inhabited as early as March of 2013 with store openings possible by June of 2013.
